UK based EY to provide IT training to students

The UK based Ernst and Young (EY) will provide quality Information Technology (IT) training to the students of Begum Rokeya University and three other colleges of Rangpur under a World Bank financed project.
The three colleges are Carmichael College, Rangpur Government College and Begum Rokeya Government College.
A tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Leveraging ICT for Growth, Employment and Governance (LICT) Project, EY and Begum Rokeya University on Saturday to provide Top Up IT training to graduate and post graduate students of science, Computer Science (CS).
Vice-Chancellor of Begum Rokeya University Prof. Dr. A K M Nur-un-Nabi and Project Management Specialist of LICT Project Sarkar Abul Kalam Azad and Project manager of EY Ranjan Sukla put initials in the MoU on behalf of their respective institutions and organization. Three separate MoUs were also signed earlier with the principals of three colleges.
The Leveraging ICT for Growth, Employment and Governance (LICT) Project of Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Division has appointed EY to provide world-class IT training to 30,000 students. Of them, 10,000 science, CS and CSE graduates and post-graduates will be given Top Up IT training and 20,000 Higher Secondary and above students will be given foundation training.
“The main objective of the training is to create 30,000 IT professionals through providing them quality training,” said Abul Kalam Azad immediately after the signing of the MoU.
He said Bangladesh IT industry is facing a setback to grow due to lack of quality skilled IT manpower and the LICT project has designed its training programme involving the reputed EY aiming to meet skill gap of the country’s IT industries. Meanwhile, the EY has targeted to complete Top Up IT and foundation training of 3,000 youngsters by the end of December.
As per the agreement, the EY will provide job to 60 percent of the 10,000 Top Up- trained youths in IT organizations of home and abroad, said a source close to LICT Project.
MoU was signed between Begum Rokeya University, LICT Project and UK based Ernst and Young (EY) at the office of Vice-Chancellor of Begum Rokeya University.
