UGC, Valdosta State University discuss academic development

A-three member delegation from Valdosta State University, Georgia, USA called on UGC Chairman (State Minister) Prof Dr AK Azad Chowdhury at the latter’s office on last Monday. Members of the delegation included Brian Gerber, Ph.D, Interim Dean, Dewar College of Education and Human Services, Valdosta State University, Ivan, P Nikolov, Ph.D, Director and Professor, Valdosta State University and Mizanur Miah, PhD, Department Head and Professor, Department of Social Work, Valdosta State University.
They discussed about faculty research, training, graduate and undergraduate studies opportunities and quality assurance in the universities.
These issues came up for the discussion at the first meeting between UGC and Valdosta State University for finalization of academic cooperation agreement and signing Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between UGC and Valdosta State University.
UGC Chairman briefed the delegation about education scenario from primary to tertiary level of Bangladesh.
He pointed out the achievements of our education sector including 100 percent enrolment in primary education, huge expansion of higher education in terms of number and increasing of allocation by HEQEP for research and innovation. The main challenge of our education is quality improvement.
He said, If we can ensure quality education, we will be able to compete globally.
