The University Grants Commission (UGC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Council of Higher Education (CoHE) of Turkey on PhD scholarship facilities in textile education in Turkish Universities.
UGC Chairman Prof Abdul Mannan and CoHE President Prof Dr MA Yekta Sarac signed the deal on behalf of their respective sides in a ceremony in the city on Tuesday, said a press release.
Under the MoU, seven Bangladeshi students will get PhD scholarship facilities in textile education in Turkish Universities every year.
The objective of the MoU are to exchange academic and scientific activities between the higher educational institutions of both the countries.
UGC Chairman Mannan said UGC has been relentlessly working for expansion, promotion and internationalization of higher education of the country. “We need cooperation and assistance from other countries for enhancement of quality of tertiary education.”
In his speech, Prof Yekta Sarac said the number of students and researchers coming in Turkey and going abroad has shown a significant increase in recent years with various exchange programmes, scholarships and other opportunities.
