Dynamic, smart and interactive website is the demand of the day for education and research to keep pace with today’s world in the 21st century. Students, teachers and researchers uphold the country to the global community through use of an uptodate website. UGC’s new website will revolutionise the education and research of the country and at the same time, other educational institutions including public and private universities could play significant role in building digital Bangladesh through following UGC’s web portal by making information uptodate on regular basis.
State Minister for Post, Telecommunications and Information Technology (ICT Division) Zunaid Ahmed Palak, MP made the observation while speaking as the Chief Guest at a launching ceremony of UGC’s new website (www.ugc.gov.bd) at its auditorium on Thursday.
UGC Chairman Prof Abdul Mannan presided over the funcion. UGC Members – Prof Dr Mohammad Yousuf Ali Mollah, Prof Dr Dil Afroza Begum and Prof Dr Syed Akhtar Hossain, Head of CSE Department, Daffodil International University were the special guests. UGC Secretary Dr Md. Khaled delivered the welcome address on the occasion.
The Chief Guest also said that Post, Telecommunications and Information Technology (ICT Division) Ministry is interested in working with UGC in different areas of Information Technology, especially in establishment of digital virtual university.
UGC Chairman, in his presidential remarks said that higher education has gained momentum in Bangladesh over the years but the country could not project properly the achievement to the global community due to not making the web portals of the country uptodate on regular basis.
A dynamic, smart and interactive website will create a new horizon in the field of education and research, he hoped.
Representatives from Education Minstry, Post, Telecommunications and Information Technology Ministry, IT Experts from universities and officials from UGC and Higher Education Quality Enhancement Project, among others were present on the occasion.
