UNB, Kushtia :
The University Grants Commission (UGC) has constituted a two-member body to investigate the incident of leaking of an audio footage regarding bribery scandal of a teacher of Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia.
IU acting registrar SM Abdul Latif told UNB on Tuesday that UGC member Prof Dr Shah Newaz Ali will lead the investigation committee.
The other member of the committee is Khandakar Hamidur Rahman,
director of UGC’s public university management division. The probe body was asked to submit its report as early as possible.
He further said they received a letter regarding the formation of the committee to investigate the scam charge against Ruhul Amin, Assistant Professor of Finance and Banking Department of the university.
On April 2 last, the university authorities suspended Ruhul Amin from all academic and administrative activities temporarily over the leak of an audio footage in which a voice, believed to be that of Ruhul Amin, was heard talking about managing some candidates for recruiting them as teachers in different departments in exchange of money amounting to Tk 12-15 lakh. The IU authorities also formed a three-member probe body to investigate into the matter and asked it to submit reports within seven working days. On May 6 last, the probe body submitted its reports to the university Vice-Chancellor Professor M Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari. No further action, however, has been taken against Ruhul Amin so far.
