UGC delegation gets ‘Best Performance Award’ in India

A 32-member delegation of University Grants Commission (UGC) from Bangladesh achieved the ‘Best Performance Award’ in the 11th South Asian Universities Festival (SAUFEST)-2018, held on March 2-6 at Ganpat University of Gujarat in India.
The delegation was led by UGC Joint Secretary Dr Md Fakhrul Islam, an UGC press release said here today.
UGC Deputy Secretary Md Shahin Siraj, UGC Senior Assistant Secretary Mauli Azad and UGC Assistant Secretary Md Mamun, among others, participated in the festival as team managers.
Dr Md Fakhrul Islam delivered a speech in the award giving ceremony of the festival as guest of honor on behalf of the participating countries. A total of 26 students from Khulna University, Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, Jatiya Kabi Nazrul Islam University, Bangladesh University of Textiles, Bangbandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Maritime University, BRAC University, Varendra University, BGMEA University of Fashion and Technology and Southeast University took part in the festival.
The Bangladeshi students participated in a number of events including light vocal, solo song, group song, classical dance, elocution, poster making, photography, debate and clay modeling and achieved the best performance award.
About 650 students from eight countries participated in the SAUFEST.
The South Asian Universities Festival is annually arranged for establishing mutual cooperation and exchanging ideas among the students of the universities of South Asian Countries.
