UGC Award announced

16 professors of different universities are selected for University Grants Commission (UGC) Award for their recognition of fundamental and innovative research.
UGC already nominated 6 teachers for the year of 2012 and 10 teachers for the year of 2013 for this award. Deputy Director of Public Support and Public Division of UGC, Omar Farooq confirmed that.
He said, after getting applications from the researchers, firstly the selection committee, secondly the evaluation committee and lastly the final committee nominated the researchers for the award.
The nominated teachers for the year 2012 are- Assistant Prof of Law Department at Dhaka University, Taslima Yeasmin, Associate Prof, Jamila Ahmed Chowdhury; Associate Professor of Chemistry Department at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, Dr Mohammad Mizanur Rahman Khan; Prof of Computer Science and Engineering Department at BUET, Mohammad Yunus Ali; Prof of Electrical and Electronic Engineering Department, Shah Alam and Prof of Civil Engineering Department, Dr M Habibur Rahman.
Besides, the nominated teachers for the year 2013 are- Prof of History Department of Dhaka University, Ashfaq Hussain; Prof of IBA, Dr Muhammad Ziyaullah Mamun; Prof of Clinical Pharmacy Department, Dr Abul Hasnat; Prof of Chemistry, Dr Md Abu-bin-Hassan Sujan; Prof of Nutrition and Food Science Institute, Dr Najma Shaheen; Prof of Medicine Department at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University, Dr ABM Abdullah; Prof of Chemistry Department at Jahangirnagar University, Tapan Kumar Saha; Associate Prof of Fisheries Department at Bangladesh Agricultural University, Dr Md Shahjahan; Assistant Prof of Civil Engineering Department at Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology, Dr Tanveer Ferdous Syed; and Assistant Prof of Law Department at Uttara University, Nannu Miah.
Each of the nominated teachers will get 50 thousand taka for their book and 30 thousand for their article including the certificate and crest. President Abdul Hamid will give the awards to the teachers at Osmani Memorial Auditorium on March 29, 2015 at 3:00 pm.
UGC launched this award in 1980 to encourage fundamental research and publications of university teachers. The award has been given to a total of 116 teachers till 2011 for research and publication.
