Asia Cup qualifying round: UAE beat Afghanistan in opener

United Arab Emirates (UAE) beat Afghanistan by 16 runs in the opening match of the Asia Cup qualifying round at the Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah on Friday.
Electing to bat first, United Arab Emirates piled up a mammoth total of 176 for the loss of four wickets in the allotted 20 overs and then they all out Afghanistan for 160 off 19.5 overs.
Opener Rohan Mustafa of UAE cracked a windy 77. His 50-ball innings was decorated with four sixes and seven fours. He grabbed three wickets at the cost of 19 runs. He was adjudged the Man of the Match for his all-round performance.
Mohammad Shahzad of UAE remained unbeaten with 25 and his teammate Mohammad Kaleem scored 25.
Besides, Usman Mushtaq remained unbeaten with 23.
Rashid Khan of Afghanistan captured three wickets at the cost of 25 runs, while Amir Hamza took one wicket for 32 runs.
Later, Karim Sadiq of Afghanistan top-scored with 72. His 48-ball innings was laced with eight fours and a sixer.
Besides, Mohammad Nabi, Nahibullah Zadran added 23 and 21 runs respectively to the Afghanistan total.
Farhan Ahmed and Mohammad Naveed of UAE bagged a pair of wickets each instead of 28 and 29 runs respectively.
Besides, Amjad Javed and Ahmed Raza took one wicket each for 26 and 32 runs respectively.
