The residential training camp of an expanded U-18 team at the Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protishtan (BKSP) ended on Monday ahead of top tier premier league kicking off from July 28, source BFF online.
With Bangladesh’s top tier premier league kicking off from July 28, the players returned to their clubs. “But we will still be following them very closely,” said Paul Smalley, BFF technical director.
The Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) hoped to get the youngsters back for another camp of five to seven days in August. “In the meantime we will be working with respective clubs regarding the availability of these players.”
Smalley said he was looking to work with an expanded squad of 25-27 players. “We hope to get them again about 10 to 14 days before the SAFF games.”
Paul Smalley said the players’ performance with the clubs would be monitored and watched closely as the BPL progressed.
The federation would also be working very closely with the clubs not just for availability of the players but also to ensure their grooming.
The U-18 SAFF championship games are scheduled for September 18-27.
