The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Railways Ministry recommended the ministry to take steps for submitting a report to the committee on the leased-out land of the Bangladesh Railway, aiming to ensure proper management of railway land.
The parliamentary body at its 12the meeting held at Jatiya Sangshad Bhaban suggested the ministry to take steps for removing the illegal billboards of Railway east zone by the next one month and launch a helpline of railway.
Chaired by committee chairman ABM Fazle Karim Chowdhury, the meeting was attended, among others, by committee member and Railways Minister Mujibul Haque, Md Moslem Uddin, Khalid Mahmud Chowhdury and Md Ali Asgar.
The meeting was informed that the Railways Ministry has taken 27 projects under its long-term plan for the modernisation of railway management and making the sector profitable. It also singed 40 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with different organisations for the railway’s development.
The acting secretary of the Railways Ministry, the director general of Bangladesh Railway and senior officials of the Parliament Secretariat were also present.
