Two trains go out of service as passengers drop

Bangladesh Railway (BR) has decided to stop the operation of the two intercity trains, Sonar Bangla and Upakul Express, due to huge decline of the passengers after the authorities concerned had identified more than 50 areas in Dhaka and Chittagong as ‘red zone’ to contain coronavirus infection.
Sonar Bangla train of Dhaka-Chattogram section will be stopped since today

 (Saturday) and Upakul Express of Dhaka-Noakhali section will be stopped from Sunday, said a notification issued by Kalikanto Ghos, Deputy Director of the Railways Ministry.
The operation of the passenger trains resumed from May 31 on a limited scale after a long vacation of more than two months due to coronavirus pandemic. The trains are running maintaining social distancing among the passengers.
But in the recent time the coronavirus infection have been increased and the government has marked some areas as red, yellow and green zones to contain the infection of the virus. It also affected the reduction of train passengers.
