Two top DSCC officials sacked for corruption

Two top influential officials of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) have been sacked on charge of corruption. The new Mayor, Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh, took such a drastic action a day after taking office, announcing his stance against corruption.
He took such action on the first day of his office at DSCC on Sunday.
The two sacked officials are: DSCC Chief Revenue Officer Yusuf Ali Sardar and Additional Chief Engineer Md Asaduzzaman. There are various allegations against them.
Md Akramuzzaman, the new Acting Secretary of the
DSCC, confirmed the news to the reporters on Sunday.
He said, “The two officials have been terminated. According to the City Corporation Act, if the corporation thinks that someone needs to be terminated, it can fire him/her with three months’ salary. There are many allegations against the two officials.”
Asked about the matter, Chief Revenue Officer Yusuf Ali Sardar said, “I don’t know anything about it.”
On the other hand, Additional Chief Engineer Md Asaduzzaman admitted the matter of dismissal and said, “I have been officially told after going to the office today.” He did not want to say more.
