Two siblings killed, 8 injured in clash in Pekua upazila

At least two siblings were killed and eight others injured in a clash between two groups at Chhiradia village under Pekua Sadar union in Pekua upazila here on Tuesday morning. The deceased were identified as Kafil Uddin and Bappi, sons of Jasim Uddin of the village. Eyewitnesses said following an early feud over a shrimp enclosure between Azam Khan and his nephew Kaisar, a clash started on Tuesday at 9am where both the groups used firearms and lethal weapons against each other, leaving Kafil Uddin, supporter of Azam Khan group dead on the spot and nine others including Bappi injured.
Meanwhile, Bappi died on the way to Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH). Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Pekua Police Station Abdur Rakib said hearing the news of the clash, police rushed to the spot to control the situation. The injured were admitted to Pekua Upazila Health Complex and CMCH, while the bodies were sent to Cox’s Bazar District Hospital for autopsies.
Legal procedures are on to bring the alleged to book, the OC added.
