Police arrested two siblings from Hariakhali village in Teknaf upazila on charges of human trafficking early Thursday.
The arrestees were identified as Abdus Samad,35, and his brother Abdul Hamid,30, sons of Sultan Ahmad, a resident of the same village.
Officer-in-charge of Teknaf Police Station Ataur Rahman Khandaker said on secret information, a team of police led by sub-inspector Alamgir conducted a drive in the area and arrested the duo at about 2:00 am.
The law enforcers raided the house following information that the detained people have been sending Bangladeshis abroad illegally for a long time, the OC added.
Youth held with 17,000 Yaba pills: Police arrested a young man in possession of 17,000 pieces of Yaba tablet from Keruntali area in Teknaf upazila on Wednesday night.
The arrestee was identified as Abdur Shukur,25, son of Abu Taher, a resident of Pashchim Gudarbil of the upazila.
Sub-inspector of Teknaf Police Station Alamgir said, on a tip-off, a team of police conducted a drive in the area and challenged Shukur at about 10:30 pm while he was moving suspiciously there.
After a hot chase, the law enforcers arrested Shukur.
Police also recovered 17,000 pieces of Yaba tablet searching his body.
