Two minor girls (cousins) were allegedly gang raped after picked up by four local youths from a street in the city’s Mir Hazirbagh area on Saturday night.
The victims are students of class IV of a local government primary school and undergoing treatment in the Victim Support Centre of Dhaka
Medical College and Hospital (DMCH). The victims — aged between 10 and 11 — were admitted to One-Stop Crisis Centre (OCC) of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), said Sub-Inspector Bachchu Miah, In-charge of the DMCH Police Outpost.
Law enforcers have already arrested three youths in this connection. They are Yasin Patwari, 20, his accomplices Ainuddin Rifat and Rabbi Mia Salam.
Quoting the locals, Anisur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Jatrabari Police Station, said, “Rifat, Rabbi, Yasin and Zahid picked up the girls up and took them into an under construction building in Nabinbagh area of Mir Hazirbagh around 10:00pm and violated them”.
The girls were returning home after attending a function, the police official said.
Police rescued the victims and sent them to the DMCH, he said. Two cases were filed against four persons under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act, the OC said.
