Two minor girls drowned in a pond at Dakhin Parulia village in Hatibandha Upazila of the district on Saturday.
The deceased were identified as Nishi, 08, and Taha, 06. Both were residents of Dakhin Parulia village.
Local people said Nishi and Taha drowned in the pond this afternoon while they were playing with a baby goat on the bank of the pond.
Soon after the incident their family members started searching for them. Later, the bodies were recovered from the pond.
