Two illegal cigarette factories fined in Narsingdi

Premium Tobacco Industries from East Shilmandi Union and Meghna Tobacco Industries from Monohordi Paikan Bazar in Narsingdi has been fined total of 14 lakh 66 thousands 199 Tk by Customs, Excise & Vat Narsingdifor using fake band-roll and evading tax.
Customs, Excise & Vat Narsingdi ordered them to pay 11 lakh 30 thousand 535tk and 3 lakh 35 thousand 664 taka respectively to the government as revenue recompense and fine.
Last Sunday, those illegal cigarettes and fake band-rolls has been seized and fined on a special expedition lead by Md. Jasim Uddin Choudhuri, ASP, RAB-11.
About the expedition Md. Jasim Uddin said that, “based on some secret information a team from RAB drove the expedition. RAB got informed that there are two illegal cigarette making factories in east shilmandi and monohordipaikar bazar.
RAB seized a huge amount of used band-roll from there. Those companies re-use the band-rolls and evade a lot of tax.  
He added that, previously the factory of Meghna Tobacco Industries was in Rangpur and it was shifted to Narsingdi few days ago. We will continue this types of expedition. I hope no one could run this types of business by evading tax to the government.
Noted, there are more than 50 different types of illegally produce cigarette brands avilable in market. Those brands use fake or reuse old band-rolls so they could sell their tax evaded illegal cigarette on a reduce price than the fixed price set by the government. For this reason government is losing about three thousands crore taka tax every year.
