A court here on Monday sentenced two people to death and another one to life term imprisonment for killing a businessman in 2011.
The two death convicts-Rana Miah and Moslemuddin – and lifer Amir Hossain remain absconding. All the three convicts are hailed from Bandar upazila of the district.
The court also fined the death convicts Tk 2,50,000 each. The lifer was fined Tk 2,00,000.
According to the prosecution, the trio killed businessman Nazrul Islam, a resident of the same upazila, and threw the body into the Shitlakkhya River on October 22, 2011.
Later, Nazrul’s brother filed a case against the trio in this connection.
After examining the records and witnesses, Additional District and Sessions Judge Mamunur Rashid handed down the verdict.
