Two farmers were electrocuted in separate incidents in Sherpur on Saturday . These accidents occurred at separate times in Chakkauria and Shimulkuchi areas of Sreebardi upazila.
The deceased were identified as Shafizal Mia, son of Saidur Rahman of Chakkauria area of Sreebardi upazila and Khukon Chandra Sarker, son of Bhabendra Chanrdra Sarkar of Shimulkuchi area of the upazila.
Police and local sources said Shafizal Mia went to connect the electric cable to the ceiling fan in his own room in the morning. But he was injured seriously by the faulty clectric wire. The local rescued him and took him hurriedly to the local upazila health complex. Doctor on duty declared him dead.
The other Khukon Chandra finished his farm land work in the afternoon and went to wash his hands and face in a nearby pond. The water in the pond was already electrified by the water pump wire. Khukon was electrified when he got into the water of the pond.
