Joint force comprising members of Bangladesh Army, police and Ansar, in a drive, arrested two extortionists from Shibmondir area under Sadar Upazila here on Tuesday afternoon. They also seized subscription books and cash taka from the arrested.
The arrestees are: Sadhon Bikash Chakma, 25, and Kajiro Marma, 28. Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sadar Police Station Md Shamsuddin Bhuiyan said on a tip-off, members of joint force raided the area and arrested.

Later, police took them to the police station and filed an extortion case. The arrested were produced before the court at 5pm on Wednesday.
“Both are activists of United Peoples Democratic Front (UPDF),” the OC said. Meanwhile, Press Secretary of District UPDF Niron Chakma denied their affiliation with UPDF.
