Upazila polls: Campaign reaches at its peak in 2 UZs in Sylhet

Sylhet Sadar and Kanaighat Upazila under Sylhet district has reached momentum as the aspirants are now moving door to door for votes in the election to be held on March 23 for the fourth phase.
 The candidates along with their supporters are holding meetings at villages. They are also making different pledges to develop the upazila and take initiatives to improve people’s living standard. Local people and officials said the candidates both for the posts of chairman, vice chairman and Women vice chairman are making electioneering campaign by reaching to the door-steps of the voters, exchanging pleasantries with the voters, enquiring the voters’ well-beings and requesting them to cast their votes for ensuring electoral victory of the candidates. The supporters of the candidates are distributing leaflets with the election symbols and photographs of the candidates among the local people especially the voters and trying to convince the voters to cast their votes in favour of the candidates. Mikings are being held from 2p.m. to 8p.m everyday for the same purposes. Apart from these, posters and festoons with the election symbols and photographs of the candidates are being hanged in all the road side corners and busy places in the upazila to draw the attention of the voters. Leaflets containing election pledges and candidate’s views regarding development of the areas are being distributed among the voters.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO), Sadar and Kanaighat assistant returning officer said, they are taking necessary measures to ensure a free, fair and credible election in the upazila.
