BNP rejects verdict: Two days’ prog announced

The BNP on Thursday announced nationwide demonstration programme to be observed on Friday and Saturday in protest against the verdict in Zia Orphanage Trust graft case against the party Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia.
The party Secretary-General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir announced the programme on Thursday in a briefing at the party central office after the court judgment delivered the party chief five years jail and Vice-Chairman Tarique Rahman and four others 10 years jail.
Mirza Fakhrul said, the BNP and the people of the country have rejected the judgment calling it table decision.
Mirza Fakhrul said, the judgment will push the country’s unstable political situation into deep crisis.
“Peoples’ trust in the judiciary has been shaken,” he said.
BNP Secretary-General said, the government has created a ‘war like situation’ centric this verdict.
Today (Thursday) ruling Awami League leaders and activists attacked BNP men under the shield of police.
Earlier, immediate after the verdict, BNP Senior Joint-Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said the verdict was the reflection of the prime minister’s vengeance. He said people would hatefully reject the verdict.
In a press briefing in the party’s Nayapaltan office, Rizvi, in tearful eyes and choked voice, said justice was not reflected.
He said the judgement was delivered to protect the job of the judge.
