Two children return home after HC issues midnight order

A High Court bench sat in a midnight session on Saturday for passing order concerning the rights of two children.
Following the High Court order, two grandchildren of former Attorney General KS Nabi have returned to their ancestral home.
Dhanmondi police officials reached them there as per the verbal ruling passed by the High Court Bench of Justice Abu Taher Md Saifur Rahman and Justice Md Zakir Hossain.
Officer in charge of Dhanmondi Police Station, Md Ekram Ali Miah, said, “After the death of KS Nabi, family crisis started in the family with the property. On October 2, KS Nabi’s eldest son Rehan Nabi did not allow his younger brother Siratun Nabi’s children to enter their house in Dhanmondi. Siratun Nabi, 44, died on August 10 this year.”
He also said, “The High Court bench headed by Justice Abu Taher Md Saifur Rahman passed verbal ruling over the issue on Saturday midnight. Then the police reached KS Nabi’s two grandchildren and their mother home at night. Police are monitoring their security.”
“Siratun Nabi had divorced his wife, who had two children with her for a long time. After the death of Siratun Nabi his two children came to their paternal house, but they were not willing to live without their mother. The family was having crisis with it,” added the police official.
A lawyer in a talk-show on Ekattor TV on Saturday night highlighted the issue that the two grandsons of former attorney general were denied entry to their home by their uncle.
An episode of Ekattor Journal focused on children’s rights and lawyer Manzill Murshid who took part in it highlighted the issue.
Following the talk show program the HC Bench headed by Justice Abu Taher Md Saifur Rahman issued a ruling and asked the Dhanmondi police station to take the two children home and ensure their security.
Later, the Supreme Court officials
contacted the Chief of Dhanmondi Police Station and they took the children home and ensured their protection.
KS Nabi’s eldest son Rehan Nabi is a lawyer in the Supreme Court, while his younger son Siratun Nabi died on Aug 10.
Kazi Shahidun Nabi (KS Nabi) was a lawyer who served as the 9th Attorney General of Bangladesh from 1996 until 1998 and died in 2018.
Meanwhile, the High Court on Sunday office hour passed another order over the issue. The court ordered the OC of the Dhanmondi police station to ensure adequate security to the two children till October 11 this year.
The court also asked the parties to maintain peaceful environment till October 11 as the court passed further order over the issue on that day after hearing both sides.
