Two BCL men held over Magura baby shot in womb

Police in separate drives arrested two persons, including a Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) leader from the capital and Magura district on Sunday on charge of in an exchange of fire that left a man dead and hit a baby in her mother’s womb.
The arrested persons were identified as Sen Suman, 35, Vice-President of BCL in Magura district unit, and Nazrul Islam, 30, activist of local BCL unit, said AKM Ehsan Ullah, Superintendent of Police in the district.
The SP said that a BCL Vice-President of the district was arrested in the capital for his alleged involvement in an exchange of fire between two factions of BCL that left a man dead and hit a baby in her mother’s womb.
He said that Suman was arrested in Dhaka’s Kallayanpur in the morning.
Another source said Suman was arrested from a friend’s house in Kalyanpur area.
However, RAB officials and detectives denied arrest of anyone named Suman from Magura.
In Magura, police arrested an accused from the sreepur upazila of the district on charge of shooting the eight-month pregnant mother during a clash in Magura on July 23.
Law enforcers picked up Nazrul Islam, after raiding a Dhaka-bound bus in Shreepur upazila of the district around 6:30pm, said Imaul Haque, Officer-in-Charge of detective branch (DB) of police in Magura.
