Two abductions take place daily

At least two persons were kidnapped from different places of the country during the last couple of days. Of the two incidents one took place in city’s Jurain area on Saturday while the other reported from Tahirpur, Sunamganj on May 12.
Imran (23), a factory worker was abducted from Madrasha Road, Jurain on Saturday afternoon, Babul Mia, father of the victim told the media. Babul Mia, a van driver said they live in a rented house at East Jurain. Imran works at Nikhut Engineering Workshop as a worker. He went to the factory after taking lunch at home on way to the
 workshop but since then he remains traceless. A case was recorded with Kadamtali thana in this connection on Saturday evening. The victim’s family searched for Imran at all possible places including emergency wards of different hospitals. But they failed to get any clue of his whereabouts. Imran is from Shashitala, under Kotwali thana, Dinajpur.
 In a separate incident Alamgir alias Khokan (32), a village doctor of Charagaon land port area under Tahirpur, Sunamganj remains missing since May 12 last.
Khokan hails from Fagua under Mohanganj, Netrokona, according to a report received from Sunamganj on Wednesday. Khokan used to live on borrowed money, local people said adding he might have disappeared to avoid pressure of the lenders. District Superintendent of Police (SP) Harunur Rashid said the police were looking into the matter.
Meanwhile, the decomposed body of an unidentified woman (42) inside a sack was recovered on Wednesday morning from a dustbin on Dhaka-Tangail road, Gazipur. The body was sent to Gazipur Sadar hospital for autopsy.
Incidents of abduction and murder and recovery of bodies in recent months have become matter of serious concern for the people of the country in general and human rights bodies in particular. Sensational crimes like abduction and murders are taking place in the city and elsewhere of the country regularly.
Ain O Shalish Kendra (ASK) , a human rights organization reported 16 people fell victim to forced disappearance and seven of them were later found dead. At least 53 people have been abducted during the last four months of the current year while 68 in 2013, ASK said. The incidents of abduction in 2012 was 56 while 59 in 2011 and 46 in 2010, ASK said.
Media reports said at least 3,391 persons were abducted in last four years, showing an average of two abduction a day.
