Two abducted youths freed after payment of ransom

Two kidnapped youths freed on Friday night after payment of ransom for Tk 20,000 through a bKash account number. The youths have been identified as Monir Hossain, 26, owner of a leather workshop and son of Abdus Sobhan Mia, resident of Wari, and Mohammd Parvez, 25, an employee of the workshop and son of Habibur Rahman. They are now undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH), police said.
Quoting the victim Monir’s family members, DMCH Police Outpost In-charge and Inspector Mozammel Haque said that a gang of unidentified kidnappers abducted Monir and Parvez after half an hour when they were going out to their Wari residence at around 7:00pm. The kidnappers demanded Tk one lakh from Monir’s brother Nasir Hossain from an unknown cell phone number. They also threatened the Nasir that they would kill the abducted persons if the matter was disclosed to the police or media.
“The family members of Monir requested the kidnappers not to kill the captives and agreed to pay Tk 20,00 through a personal bKash account number early hour of Saturday. They went to the Kalshi Bridge area in Pallabi around 2:00pm according to their mobile phone conversation and found them in an abnormal condition, the police official said.
He said that the family members have been passing their days in fearafter the incident.  
Pallabi Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Ziauzzaman said that the matter nobody complained with him about the kidnapping till Saturday night.
