Twenty players won their first round matches and earned full points in the 1st Shamsher Ali Memorial Women’s FIDE Rating Chess Tournament that began on Friday at Bangladesh Chess Federation hall-room.
They are: WFM Sharmin Sultana Shirin, WIM Rani Hamid, WFM Nazrana Khan Eva, WFM Zakia Sultana, Sabekun Nahar Tanima, Fatema Tuz Zohara Sraboni, Protiva Talukder, Kiswara Shajrin Evana, Farjana Hossain Annie, Jahanara Haque Runu, Afrin Jahan Munia, Sumaiya Khondoker, Hamida Mahmud, Zahuratul Zannat Zisha, Samiha Akter, Amena Khatun, Syeda Fahmida Malek, Kumudi Nargis, Noshin Anjum and Tasmin Sultana.
Earlier, GM Ziaur Rahman inaugurated the meet as chief guest. WIM Rani Hamid president of Bangladesh Mohila Daba Samity presided the inauguration ceremony.
The event is being held in 7 round Swiss-League system and total Taka fifty thousand cash prizes will be given to the winners.
2nd round games begins today (Saturday) at 3 pm at the same venue.
