The final Qualifiers of the 2014 Turkish Airlines World Golf Cup, one of the largest sports and most exciting amateur tournaments held at the Kurmitola Golf Club in the city recently. The last but by certainly not least of 50 qualifiers for the global event, which enjoyed great acclaim in its inaugural edition last year, saw79 players, all personally-invited guests of Turkish Airlines, battling it out to secure the final two places in this year’s grand final.
Brig Gen Md Ahsanul Huq Miah and Brig Gen Md Abdur Razzaque finished first in their respective categories in the individual stable ford competition with scores of 37 and 45 respectively and will join the other 98 finalists at the Grand Finals in Antalya, Turkey this November.
Meanwhile, Mahmuda Chowdhury and S Rizvi won the nearest-the-pin prizes. “We would like to congratulate everyone who took part in the Turkish Airlines World Golf Cup qualifier in Dhaka”, said Murat Irdesel, General Manager of Turkish Airlines of Bangladesh chapter. “It was a brilliant day and our winners did well, we look forward to seeing you in Antalya in November.”
Luck was in for Capt Intikhab Ahmed Chowdhury and Arvine, who both won two business class flights and a seven-night stay at the five-star Maxx Royal Hotel in Antalya after their scorecards were chosen in the free prize draw, with every player who took part in the Qualifiers having been entered.
