Remote farmers of Tungipara in the district are busy now use to fire burn method on their crop land (burn of paddy residue) for make land fertile and insect crush.
According to Tungipara Upazila Agriculture office sources , a total of 25,000 hectors of crop land here. Where 32,000 farmers involved farming on the crop land of them about 50 percent farmers flow this method in this region, sources said.
Jillal Sheikh (65) , a farmer of village Pachkoania under Tungipara upazila in Gopalgonj District said, earlier generation used this fire burn method and they got a good effective result like manure & harmful insect crush by the method besides they got salt free, natural manure too much effective on the crop land. Farmers start this method around Bangla month Chatro to Baishakh, Jillal said.
Samir Kumar Gowshami, Deputy Director (D.D) Agriculture, Gopalgonj told The New Nation. fire burn method is a effective arrangement on crop land and this method make Murate of Potash (MOP) fertilizer besides crush surface with conceal insects in the land and remote farmers have been using the method from long before and the method is natural & effective on the crop land, D.D said.
Rong Mia Sheikh (65), a farmer of village Shingipara under Nilfa Union of Tungipara Upazila in the district said, every year this season he fire burn on (burn of paddy residue) his crop land, as result he got a good benefit from this method used because there is no need excess fertilizer for his crop land. On stage Rong mia further said, my father and grand father used this fire burn method on their crop land not only that maximum remote farmers in this region have been using this method on their crop land as a result they got huge natural fertilizer from the method, Rong mia said, during visit his field.
Mohammad Jamal Uddin, Upazila Agriculture officer (UAO), Tungipara said, there is no extra expend for using the fire burn method besides it bring soil condition develop & make a MOP fertilizer on the land and side by side crush to conceal insects in the surface of crop land, UAO said.
