Two persons were killed and another was injured when a speeding truck hit a motorcycle on Nazimuddin Road in the old part of Dhaka early Wednesday.
The deceased were identified as Suny, 20, and Akash, 25. The injured motorcyclist Ripon, 20, was taken to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) in a critical condition.
Chawkbazar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Samiur Rashid Talukder said, “The speeding truck hit the motorcycle in front of Aftab Hotel on Nazimuddin Road area, leaving the three riders critically injured. They were rushed to the DMCH around 1:30am and the on-duty doctors declared Suny and Akash dead.” Police arrested the driver of the truck, Sheikh Hanif, 50, and also seized the vehicle, the OC said. A case was filed with the Chawkbazar Police Station, he said.
