BSS, Dhaka :
Awami League (AL) General Secretary Obaidul Quader yesterday said tough actions would be taken against those trying to create disunity and conflicts in the party.
“Those who will try to hinder the party’s expected victory by creating feuds and conflicts would not be spared. Rebels against party candidates (in polls) will be expelled immediately,” he told a function in the city.
Obaidul Quader, also minister for road transport
and bridges, was addressing as chief guest the inaugural ceremony of a council of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) Jagannath University (JnU) unit on the university campus.
Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Sayeed Khokon, Dhaka City South AL General Secretary Shahe Alam Murad and JnU BCL General Secretary SM Sirajul Islam addressed the function, among others, while JnU BCL President Shariful Islam was in the chair.
The AL General Secretary said, a vested quarter is patronizing militancy to interrupt the ongoing development spree under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
“They would never be successful to topple the government of Sheikh Hasina through militant activities,” he added.
Blaming BNP for patronizing militancy, the minister said the militants did not get so much courage to carry out destructive activities, if they did not have BNP’s backing.
Apprehending international connections of the militants in their bid to topple the government, he said, “The government along with people will be successful to face the conspiracy”.
Quader urged the BCL leaders and activists to run party activities abiding by party disciplines.
He advised them to form a committee with qualified leaders.
