Mehjabin, the elder daughter of the murdered couple and younger sister in the capital’s Kadomtoli, has been remanded for four days in a case filed in this connection.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Debabrata Biswas passed the order after hearing in the case on Sunday (June 20).
Earlier, Inspector Zakir Hossain of Kadomtoli Police Station and Investigation Officer (IO) of the case, produced her in the court and sought a 7-day remand for her.
On Sunday afternoon, Moon was taken to court. At this time she looked normal. Even she also spoke to the journalists.
Asked why she killed them, Moon said, “I killed because of extramarital affairs and family dispute.” “Was there anyone else with her in this murder?” Moon said, I had committed the murder alone in a planned way.
Moon also replies, “I have no regrets. I am better than yesterday. I am healthy and normal now. ‘ Mentionable, there was no lawyer for Moon in the court during Sunday’s remand hearing.
Meanwhile, Mehzabin’s husband who sustained injuries during the incident was being treated under Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) under police guard, is now at the police custody.
Accused Shafiqul Islam had shown him arrested in the case after treatment, said Jamal Uddin Mir, Officer-in-Charge of Kadamtali Police Station.
Accused is being interrogated at the police station over the triple murder, the OC added.
Earlier, Mehzabin’s uncle Shakhwat Hossain lodged the case against her and her husband Shafiqul Islam on charge of killing the parents and sister in Dhaka’s Kadamtali area on Saturday.
Police on Saturday recovered bodies of a couple and their younger daughter from a house of Muradpur’s High School Road in Kadamtoli area of the capital.
According to police, she (Moon) herself informed police through 999 in that morning saying, “I have killed my parents and younger sister.”
Local sources said Mehzabin came to her father’s home and complained to her mother that her husband Shafiqul and sister Zannatul developed an extra-marital affair.
Police however; suspect that the three were strangled to death after being sedated. The legs and hands of the bodies were found tied up.
Shah Iftekhar Ahmed, Deputy Commissioner of Wari Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, Saturday said Moon primarily admitted that she put sleeping pills with tea and later strangled them.
“The incident may have been the result of a family dispute,” the police official added.
