Tributes paid to Poet Jasimuddin

The 39th death anniversary of Polli Kabi Jasimuddin was observed here yesterday morning here in a befitting manner.
In this connection Faridpur district administration and Faridpur Jasim Foundation jointly chalked out different programmes at poet’s ancestral home in village Gobindapur located in the outskirts of the district town.
District administration and Jasim Foundation led by ADC(Gen) Md. Abdur Rashid placed floral wreath at the grave of the poet. Besides a number of cultural and literary organizations in the morning placed floral wreaths at the grave of the poet adjacent to the ancestral home of the poet situated on the bank of dried up river Kumar.
A discussion meeting on the poet was held at the premises of grave site. The discussion meeting was chaired by ADC(Gen) Md. Abdur Rashid Among others ADC(Education & ICT) Md. Anowarul Islam, Faridpur Shahittya Parishad president Prof. M.A. Samad, poet’s son Dr. Jamal Anowar, Freedom Fighter and Faridpur Shahittya Sanskriti Unnayan Sangstha president Abul Faez Shahnawaj, cultural activists Mofiz Imam Milon and Kushal Chowdhury took part in the discussion and recitations from Jasimuddin.
Speakers addressing the meeting said that the creativity of poet Jasimuddin in protraying the rural Bengal is unparallel in Begali literature. His art of expression and composition depicting life, pain, happiness, love and other related surroundings got a fresh height in Begali poems.
ADC(Gen) Md. Abdur Rashid said that the ‘Jasim Museum Complex’ which is nearing completion adjacent to poet’s ancestral home would be enriched with the collections of literary works of Jasimuddin.
The ADC further said that there will be provisions of research on Jasimuddin and sought the cooperation of all particularly the family members to make the complex meaningful. It may be mentioned here that the present government took up scheme of Jasim Museum Complex in the year 2011 at an estimated cost of Taka 17 crore.
