Tributes paid to Dr Mohammad Shahidullah

The Bangla Department of Dhaka University (DU) organised a daylong seminar at RC Majumdar Auditorium of the university on Monday remembering linguist, educationist Dr Mohammad Shahidullah.
DU Vice-Chancellor (VC) Professor Dr AAMS Arifen Siddique attended the seminar as the chief guest with DU former Prof and University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh Emirate Prof Dr Rafiqual Islam as the special guest while Bangla Department Chairperson Prof Dr Begum Aktar Kaman in the chair.
Arifen Siddique said Dr Shahidullah is the best scholar from others scholars who was contributed to establish Bangla Language in the world. He was a religious person but not fanatic. He was modern and progressive. He inspired women for learning knowledge. He loved so much his Mother tongue.
“National progress is not possible without acquiring knowledge of science on mother language. He called upon the students and young generations to go ahead learning Shahidullah’s philosophy of life, DU VC said.”
DU Prof Dr Saumitra Shekhor, Rajshahi University (RU) Folklore Department Prof Dr Shahidur Rahman, Shajalal University of Science and Technology Bangla Department Prof Dr Mr Abdur Rahim , DU Bangla Department Assistant Prof Dr Mohammad Azam and convener of Seminar Committee Prof Dr Mohammad Shajahan Miah, among others, were present on the occasion.
