The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT-BD) on Tuesday indicted two alleged Razakars from Habiganj and Kishoreganj, framing seven charges of crimes against humanity against them.
The two accused are Md Liakat Ali, former chairman of Lakhai union parishad under Habiganj and Aminul Islam alias Rajab Ali from Kishoreganj.
Justice Anwarul Haque, chairman of the three-member panel of the tribunal, passed the order in absentia, setting December 3 for submitting opening statement and recording depositions of prosecution witnesses.
Advocates Rana Dasgupta and Rezia Sultana Cheman were present from the prosecution on Tuesday, while state-appointed counsel Gazi MH Tamim was there from the defence.
Earlier on May 18, the tribunal took the charges pressed by the prosecution against the duo, into cognizance. The accused carried out mayhem in 1971 along with their men in Lakhai under Habiganj, Nasirnagar under Brahmanbaria and Astogram under Kishoreganj.
