Trial of BNP-Jamaat masterminds for arson attack demanded

Shipping Minister and Convener of the campaign for International War Crimes Mass Trial Movement (IWCMTM) Shajahan Khan on Tuesday demanded trial of those alleged mastermind of BNP-Jamaat group who had killed people through committing arson attacks by enforcing hartal and blockade for 92 days from 2013 to 2015.
The Shipping Minister came up with the demand while he was addressing a press conference held at the Swadinata Hall at Segunbaghicha here.
“The BNP-Jamaat had killed more than hundred innocent people including 92 drivers, 17 helpers, 3 police, 2 BGB member, 2 freedom fighters and two bank employees in the name of movement in the year of 2013, 2014 and 2015,” said the minister.
Khan demanded immediate trial of those masterminds who had been killed people through committing arson attack in that time.
The Shipping Minister has also chalked out different programmes to this end.
Programmes include press conference on November 26 for revealing information by the probe committee of International War Crimes Mass Trial Movement, Satkhira visit on December 22, rallies in the name of ‘Mass long March (Ganojatra) in eight divisional cities at the end of this month and mass rally at Sonali Bank premises at Mothijheel on December 21.
Earlier, the campaign for International War Crimes Mass Trial Movement also disclosed the name of 195 Pakistani War crime perpetrators, Khan told the press briefing.
The minister has assured the journalists to wait until November 26 for revealing more information in this regard.
At the same time, the minister also demanded to declare March 25 as the National Mass Killing Day.
Replying to a query on Begum Zia’s suggestion for the Election Commission, he said the Election Commission would be formed as per the guidelines of the constitution.
IWCMTM’s member secretary Osman Ali who also member secretary of Bangladesh Sarak Paribahan Sramik Federation , Mahbub Uddin Bir-Bikram, Ismat Kadir Gama, Alauddin Mia, Kamal Pasha Chowdhury and Kamrul Anam, were present at the press conference.
