The government has imposed an overseas travel ban on Awami Jubo League chairman Omar Faruk Chowdhury so that he cannot leave the country.
The Benapole Immigration Check-post was asked to issue red alert in this regard.
The authorities of the largest land port of the country with neighbouring India confirmed this on Sunday afternoon.
Mohsin Khan Pathan, officer-in-charge of Benapole Immigration, said that they have received a verbal instruction of the special branch (SB) of Dhaka Police in this regard.
Sources said India-bound passengers from Bangladesh are being checked thoroughly. Besides, fingerprints of the passengers are being examined so that anyone can’t use forged or alternative passports.
