Atlease 20 persons including transport workers and journalists were injured with police lathi charge at Patiya upazila sadar on Tuesday last. The incident occurred at about 10 am near Patiya Bus station following the collision of a passenger bus with BGB vehicle .
Eye witnesses sources said one CoxsBazar bound Unique Paribahan bus pushed a Chittagong bound BGB forces laden vehicle near patiya bus station.
After the incident of push, altercation brought out between the BGB forces and the transport workers with scuffle .
Soon after the altercation between them, a number of transport workers, owners swooped on the spot and brought out clash in between them. Acting on information, Patiya thana police turns out in the spot and started indiscriminate lathi charge over the agitated mob leaving 20 persons received injury.
Among them Patiya correspondent of Dainik Purbodesh Robiul Hossain and the correspondent of Alokita Bangladesh Shafiul Azam injured.
All the injured persosns except two journalists are transport workers sources said. The injured have been admitted in Patiya health complex, sources said.
