Indefinite transport strike jointly enforced by the bus owners association, motor transport workers union and truck-tank- lorry unions 9 days ago in Thakurgaon district has been withdrawn from Thursday morning.
The strike was enforced against the plying of illegal 3-wheelers, Nasiman, Kariman and Bhatbhati on the highways.
As a result plying of buses, trucks, tank lorries, microbuses and other 4-wheelers on different routes of the district even Dhaka bound day and night coaches were stopped causing untold sufferings to thousands of passengers. Due to the strike specially the Hajj-giong pilgrims fell in serious trouble.
The strike was withdrawn after a meeting of the Owners and Workers Unions with the Deputy Commissioner Mukesh Chandra Biswas and Municipal Mayor SMA Moin held at the Deputy Commissioner’s coference room on Wednesday night.
