Transport strike cripples Port activities, severe deadlock feared

The deadlock faced by the Chattogram Port authority for the last two days following the indefinite strike of the transport owners and workers in the port city. The loading, unloading of two vessels totally stranded from Sunday morning.
 The port users feared total stoppage of port activities for indefinite transport strike .Following the strike of transport, the exporters will be at very losers due to timely shipment of consignments. Port sources said unloading of cargo from two vessels became stalled from early morning. these vessels were carrying iron ingot and cement clinker .
 Moreover , the export cargos can not be reached at port shed from private ICD lack of transports . Director of (transport) of CPA Golam sarwar confirmed the stoppage of unloading cargos from the vessels and feared unwanted situation of the port. General secretary of the Prime Mover Trailer Owners’ Association Md. Abu Bakar told that there is no programme of strike of prime movers of the owners association but the workers of the prime movers launched strike uncalled for and the export cargo are accumulated in the private ICD, he said.
