Bangladesh Sarak Paribahan Sramik League (BSPSL) has threatened to besiege BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia’s Gulshan office on January 22 if the ongoing countrywide blockade would not be withdrawn by January 21.
They also demanded arrest of the BNP chief for killing drivers and helpers of vehicles through arson attacks across the country.
The announcement was made by its General Secretary Insur Ali at a human chain in front of the National Press Club on Sunday.
Giving an ultimatum, the organization President Waheduzzaman, said that if the hartal and blockade are not withdrawn by next three days, thousands of transport workers will gherao Khaleda Zia’s office at 10am on the day.
“BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami activists are vandalizing and setting fire to vehicles every day in the name of blockade. They are burning commoners,
helpers and drivers to death by hurling petrol bombs. Such a state of disorder cannot be allowed to continue in a democratic society,” he said.
A truck helper burned to death in a petrol bomb attack at Bamrail in Ujirpur early Sunday. The trucker was also injured in the attack and was hospitalized, the transport leader further said.
