Bus owners of Dhaka city on Monday said they are disagreed to run their transports under the proposed six companies to eliminate the anarchy on streets.
“One of transport owners has proposed to implement late mayor of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Annisul Huq’s plan to run all city buses under six companies. But all of us (bus owners) strongly protested the proposal. That means it is clear that we are not agreed with the proposal,” said Hasan Mahmud Mollah, one of the bus owners.
He said this after a special general meeting of Dhaka Road Transport Owners Association held at Kazi Bashir Auditorium (Mahanagar Natyamancha) in the capital.
Khandakar Enayet Ullah, General Secretary of Dhaka Paribahan Malik Samity, presided over the meeting.
Sources of the meeting said, Sheikh Mohammad Sabuj Uddin, owner of Mohona Paribahan Ltd, has proposed to implement Annisul Huq’s plan.
He said, “We have to implement the late DNCC mayor Annisul Huq’s proposal to bring all buses under six companies to eliminate all anarchies in the city transport sector.”
But the other owners started to shout at him saying, No! No!, to make him stopping the speech on this regard.
They shouted and said that they did not agree with the proposal.
Sabuj then stopped his speech and compelled to say ‘sorry’ for the proposal.
On the contrast, the city service bus owners had agreed to bring all buses under six companies in 2017, when Annisul Huq had taken the initiative.
Recently, Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Sayeed Khokon was given the same responsibility as per the Prime Minister’s direction to implement the massive plan to eliminate all type of disarray in the transport sector.
