Transport leader hacked to death in Jhenidah

UNB, Jhenidah :
A transport workers’ union leader was chopped to death by miscreants at Ararpur in the district town early Monday.
The deceased was identified as Abdul Gaffar Bishwas ,43, general secretary of Jhenidah Bus-Minibus Workers’ Union and son of late Babar Ali Bishwas of Alhera Para in the town.
Police said, miscreants injured Gaffar chopping him with sharp weapons elsewhere and left him
beside a bridge in Ararpur at about 4:00am.
On information, police rescued Gaffar and took him to Jhenidah Sadar Hospital where doctors declared him dead.
Police suspected that Gaffar was killed by his rivals as two groups of the District Transport Workers’ Union had a row in recent time.
