UNB, Dhaka :
BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia on Thursday termed ‘shameful’ the transit fee fixed by the government for the transportation of Indian goods through Bangladesh territories.
“We haven’t liberated the country from Pakistanis to hand it over to any other country. The transit fee has been fixed at mere Tk 195, not even Tk 200. What a shameful amount it is!” she told an Iftar party.
The BNP chief further said, “There’s no use of realising so small amount of money as transit fee. We shouldn’t take it.” She urged the country’s freedom fighters to come forward to save the country and restore its dignity.Jatiyatabadi Muktijoddha Dal arranged the iftar party at a city hotel.
Calling upon the freedom fighters and patriots to raise their voice to protect the country’s interests, Khaleda said, “We’re not getting the due share of water (of common rivers). No one is talking about it. We don’t want anybody’s mercy, but want to get our proper share of water.” Khaleda said the country has now turned into a ‘police state’ for lack of democracy and an elected government. “The government is now killing people by police and Rab members.
