The Supreme Court Administration on Tuesday transferred all 31 staff from its filing and Affidavit Sections in order to keep the judiciary free from corruption.
The Supreme Court Administration took the decision after the Chief Justice expressed dissatisfaction over the irregularities of the officials of the affidavit sections.
Special Officer of the High Court Division of the Supreme Court Mohammad Saifur Rahman confirmed the matter and said that they have been transferred on charge of irregularities.
Earlier on Monday, Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain expressed his disappointment over the failure to prevent irregularities even after installing CCTV cameras in the Affidavit Section.
On that day, the Attorney General Mahbubey Alam said, “A case hearing that was third on the list on Monday, surprisingly went down to 89 of the Appellate Division’s cause-list.”
The Chief Law Officer of the State also said that many people have turned into millionaires just by changing the cause-list serials.
After yesterday’s transfer order, Mahbubey Alam told the reporters that the authorities concerned had to take tough action against the concerned officials, when they were involved into the corruption.
“I think the Chief Justice has taken tough action against the officials concerned, who were involved in the irregularities. It is a part of action to free the judiciary from corruption,” Alam noted.
Following the Attorney General’s allegation over changing the cause-list, Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain on Monday told in the court that CCTV camera installation at the Affidavit Section could not stop that malpractice.
The Chief Justice also said that many state prosecutors do not even bother to come to the court, probably because they are highly paid.Later, the Chief Justice summoned Deputy Registrar Mehedi Hasan on Monday during the court’s proceeding. But, Mehedi’s explanation angered the Appellate Division Bench led by the Chief Justice and then the court directed the Administration to take step over the irregularities.
The Chief Justice also ordered Mehedi to perform his duty sincerely in preparing the cause-list of the Supreme Court.
