Training on developing agri-products at BARI

The Post Harvest Technology Division (PHTD) of Bangladesh Agriculture Research Institute (BARI) organized a day-long farmers group training (Group-1) on ‘Agricultural products processing technology development’ at Marta village of Sreepur upazila in Gazipur today (Saturday, September 04, 2021) under the project AFACI-APPT, Bangladesh. A total of 30 farmers including unemployment women and youth participated at the training program on Guava and Pineapple Processing (Guava Natural Jelly and Mixed Natural Jelly of Guava and Pineapple).
BARI Director General Dr. Md. Nazirul Islam was present as chief guest while CSO and Head of PHT Division, BARI Md. Hafizul Haque Khan presided over the function. BARI Director (Training & Communication) Dr. Muhammad Samsul Alom was present as special guest. Senior Scientific Officer, PHT Division and Principal Investigator of the AFACI-APPT, Bangladesh Dr. Mohammad Mainuddin Molla discussed training objectives and overview of project. Scientific Officer and Co-PI of the AFACI-APPT, Bangladesh Ashfak Ahmed Sabuz conducted the function.
In his speech as chief guest, BARI Director General Dr. Md. Nazirul Islam said, “Once we received food aid from abroad but now we are a country of food surplus. The current government wants to ensure safe food for all by 2030. Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute is working to adopt and implement the plan to achieve this goal of the government. We want food to be as nutritious as it is safe. This program aimed at training up the farmers to increase their income through the quality improvement of newly developed or existed products by applying the safe and natural product processing technology to agricultural product for consumption of safe and natural process products, generating income and employment opportunity of the unemployment women and youth. He emphasized on making guava chemical free natural jelly and advised to continue its activities in future to make the training fruitful.
