A 16-day old baby died when a brickbat fell on his head accidentally in the city’s Mirpur-1 area on Friday.
The deceased has been identified as Abdullah, son of Kabir Hossain, a private car Driver, said Dadon Fakir, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Mirpur Model Police Station.
Abdullah’s aunt Tamim Sultana was standing in front of their tin-shed house holding him in her arms. Just then a three-year old child unconsciously dropped a piece of brick from the rooftop of a four-storey building while playing with other children around 10:00am, the OC said.
The baby was rushed to Dhaka Shishu (Children) Hospital at Sher-e- Bangla Nagar and was then referred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), where he died around 1:30pm, he added.
The body was handed over to the family members after getting a written plea.
