Trafficking, torture of Bangladeshi woman in India, 2 make confessions

Two accused in a case filed for trafficking and torture of Bangladeshi woman in India made confessions yesterday confessing their involvement in the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka.
Magistrate Debobrata Biswas of the CMM Court recorded the confessional statements of the two accused under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure. The two accused are Mehedi Hasan Babu and Mohiuddin. Later, the court sent them to the jail. Besides, the same court sent another accused Abdul Kader to the jail on completion of his remand.

On June 3, the court granted five days remand for the three accused. On Wednesday, Investigation Officer of the case Mohiuddin Faruk, who is also an Inspector of Khilgaon Police Station of the capital, produced the accused in the court on completion of their remand. On the occasion, Mehedi Hasan Babu and Mohiuddin voluntarily agreed to make confessions. Besides, the IO appealed to the court to send Abdul Kader to the jail.
Meanwhile, on June 4, the court granted five days’ remand for accused Amirul Islam and Abdus Salam Molla.
The trafficked Bangladeshi woman fled away 77 days after she was confined and tortured, and came back to the country. Then she filed the case with Hatirjheel Police Station accusing 12 people in the case on June 1.
