Khaleda hosts Iftar for pol leaders

BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia hosted an Iftar party in honour of the country’s political leaders at Bashundhara Convention Centre on Sunday.
Like previous years, she invited top leaders of all political parties, including Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, at the function. But no leaders of the ruling party or its alliance partners joined the function.
Meanwhile, leaders of the BNP-led 20-party alliance and some other
parties joined the Iftar party. Among them, chairman of Bikalpa Dhara Bangladesh Dr AQM Badrudduza Chowdhury, chairman of a faction of Jatiya Party Kazi Zafor, president of Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) Col (Retd) Oli Ahmed, Maulana Abul Hasanat Abdul Halim of Jamaat-e-Islami, ameer of Khelafat Majlish Moulana Mohammad Ishaq, chairman of Islami Oikya Jote Maulana Abdul Latif Nezami, president of Jatiya Gonotantrik Party (Jagpa) Shafiul Alam Prodhan, chairman of Bangladesh Kalyan Party Maj (Retd) Syed Mohammad Ibrahim Birpratik, chairman of Bangladesh Jatiya Party Barrister Andalib Rahman Partho and chairman of Bangladesh NAP Jebel Rahman Ghaani joined the function, among others.
Besides, BNP senior leaders Barrister Moudud Ahmed, Barrister Jamiruddin Sircar, Lt Gen (Retd) Mahbubur Rahman, MK Anwar, Brig Gen (Retd) ASM Hannan Shah, Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan, Begum Sarwari Rahman and Abdullah-al-Noman were also present.
Before taking Iftar, Khaleda Zia exchanged pleasantries with the guests. A special munazat was also offered before the Iftar.
Khaleda Zia took her first Iftar with orphans and alem-ulema (Islamic scholars) at the city’s Ladies Club on Friday. She will host an Iftar party for the professionals and eminent citizens of the country at the Bashundhara Convention Centre today (Monday), while her Iftar party for diplomats will be held at Hotel Westin on Wednesday.
