Staff Reporter :A businessman was shot dead by a gang of unidentified miscreants at hotel Motijheel near Dainik Bangla on Thursday evening. The deceased has been identified as Abdul Hamid, 40, a shipping businessman, hailing from Sandwip in Chittagong district, police said. Quoting the doctors and witnesses, Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) Police Outpost In-charge and Sub-Inspector (SI) Mozammel Haque said that at least two members of miscreants shot at Hamid entering his room at Hotel Motijheel near Dainik Bangla crossing at 7:00pm. He was rushed to the DMCH where the on-duty doctors declared him dead around 8:00pm.Hamid was hit by a bullet on his head, the police official said. The body had been kept to the DMCH morgue for an autopsy, the SI said. Proloy Kumar Saha, Officer-in-Charge (Investigation) of Motijheel Police Station said, police are investigating the matter.
